I have been teaching anatomy, physiology, and microbiology at the Utah State University Brigham City campus since Fall 2003. I actually don't have a strong background in these subjects--rather I have studied ecology of black bears and horned lizards! But the pre-health classes are in high demand and I am happy to accommodate. My mom actually wanted me to be a doctor, and this is as close as I am going to ever come.
Interests: Eclectic: most anything outdoors or dealing with animals, painting (pictures, not houses), investing (isn't the stock market weird?), wikis, how people learn, teaching (good thing), languages (I speak French and am working on Spanish), my kids (good thing), travel (especially when it is a free trip!), sustainability as it relates to environmental issues, religion, people (aren't they weird?), dumpster diving.
Fame: Yeah, right! I got some attention related to my first wiki project--the Physiology Textbook at Wikibooks. An article was written about that, and I was featured on Access Utah, a radio program on Utah Public Radio (the episode can be found by scrolling to 19 Sept). Now I have reached my career pinnacle :-)
Favorites (movies, TV shows, books, songs, etc.): Life is Beautiful (in Italian), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (in Chinese), nature documentaries by David Attenborough (such as Life on Earth). . . that's all I can think of. We have a TV but no antenna or cable--we only watch DVDs and videos that we can check out (free) at the library. Yes, I'm a cheapskate.
If I knew I could not fail, then I would: 1) Create a source of non-polluting, cheap, renewable electricity that would be distributed easily to people the world over. 2) Save huge chunks of intact habitat as wild areas. 3) finish my dissertation (I'm actually working on this one).
My group is: I'm all alone, but I'll participate with your group if you want.
I am motivated by: curiosity
What else you should know about me: When I was 17 a girl asked me out, and then I asked her out, and then she asked me out, . . . and we never dated anyone else. I was smitten when she agreed to go to the golf course pond and catch salamanders with me. Last year that lady asked me to grow a beard, which is why I now have one.
My user name "flattail" refers to the flat-tailed horned lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii), which I have studied for about 10 years.
Born 5 Sept 2008. Dallin!
Dallin was born at home with the help of a wonderful midwife, Chris Miller.
Since everyone here likes anatomy, here is a picture of Dallin's placenta.
Here is our new family minutes after the birth
One of the greatest talks I have heard on education, and it's funny too! (18 min)
If you need some inspiration for your life, I recommend listening to Tina Seelig talk about "What I wish I knew when I was twenty." This podcast means a lot to me. (40 minutes)
I had a beat box video here, just to show I know something of modern pop culture, but what do you get when you combine beat box with classical flute playing? It's Pattillo!

Would like a go at helping, have some more studies to finish for hand in in September. Student nurses and qualified nurses who are completing nurse training or further studies, don,t get summers off like most other students do, well at least in the UK. love teaching and sharing knowledge, have already compiled a list of links to educational web sites for nursing/medical students will post when finished.
Thanks for the good luck wishes, fear i may need it . The role is a newly developed, aim, to keep patients out of hospital, care closer to home, is the government paper.
Regards Susan.

When you load a picture, you can resize it before saving (it gives you little + and - symbols). Try clicking on the picture and saying "edit picture" then you should have the resize option again.
If you don't like how the picture looks resized (i.e. if it now looks grainy or pixelated) then try resizing it in photo-editing software. My favorite is the free download Picasa (from Google)--it is great for keeping your digital pictures organized, and it is easy to export pictures at a reduced size if you want.
